Handling Objections: The Sales Objection
Category : Home-Based Business
Unfortunately, handling objections, questions, or concerns is just part of the game in Network Marketing. It would be nice if everyone joined after their first exposure but that’s definitely not the case.
As we continue our handling objections series, I want to address the sales objection. This is when your prospect says that they’re not a salesperson or they’re not good at selling. Because of this, they don’t think they’ll be successful at building an MLM business.
Like most aspects of Network Marketing, there’s a simple way to handle objections. The best way to combat the sales objection is to get your prospect on a three-way call with your upline or leader. In fact, this is the best way to combat ALL objections.
But what if you’re the leader and you’re having to handle this objection for your downline and their prospects? No problem. I’ll give you an example of how I handle the sales objection.
Generally, in this situation, I use Eric Worre’s “Feel Felt Found” principle and say something to this effect.
“Brad I totally FEEL where you’re coming from. When I was taking a look at this product/service/opportunity I FELT the exact same way. But what I FOUND was that your success in Network Marketing is not dependent upon your sales skills.”
You can use whatever reasoning you want in the FOUND section. This statement gets you connecting with the prospect and letting them know they’re not alone by having this objection.

In all honesty, I don’t want my prospects to be good at sales. If they already have a sales background usually I have to de-train their sales mindset and re-train it for Network Marketing.
Additionally, if I have to CONvince you to buy the product then you won’t be a loyal, long-term customer and I will have to re-CONvince you every month to continue buying from me. If I have to CONvince you into joining my opportunity, then I’ll have to CONvince you to work your business. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Bottom line. In MLM, we don’t sell. We facilitate education and understanding for our prospects. Either you understand the benefits of the product/service or you don’t. Either you are open to creating additional streams of income or you’re not. Either way I’m still getting paid.
