Repurposing Your Digital Content

Have you started to build your personal brand online and find that it’s tough to come up with consistent content?

Day in and day out the marketplace demands good, valuable content. If you can’t produce it, potential customers will be looking elsewhere to find it.

Like most problems, there’s a really simple solution for it.

Repurposing digital content.

That’s the phrase that pays.

Let me give you a good example of repurposing your content. Take a little peek behind the curtain of what I do every single week with my online brand.

Every weekday come up with a topic, something that your ideal customer struggles with or needs training on. Then get on Facebook Live AND Periscope to talk about it. Hopefully you get some interaction on the live streams but if you don’t, that’s ok.

Save the video file from each of those broadcasts and select the best one. There’s always a good one and a bad one. Keep the good one and discard the bad one.

Take the better of the two video files and upload it to Youtube under an “unlisted” setting. That way no one can see the video until you’re ready to publish it.

Every single week you should have 10 live stream broadcasts that you do (one Facebook Live and one Periscope, unless you have two devices and a good connection) and 5 videos that get uploaded onto Youtube.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays write a blog post. Pick one of the unlisted videos you uploaded to Youtube at some point in the past and write a post on that topic.

If you do it long enough there should be several weeks in between when you do the live streams and when you publish the blog post and Youtube video on the subject.

At this point you want to create some sort of creative thumbnail for the topic you’re writing about. Set it as the thumbnail for your Youtube video and blog post on the same topic.

As your writing your blog post you want to put in keywords that apply to your topic and target market and include a catchy title.

Then at the bottom of the post embed your Youtube video on the topic (see below). That way people can read your post and then watch you talk about it.

If you’ve been keeping count you’ve only chosen one topic but you’ve created two live streaming broadcasts for two difference audiences, a Youtube video, a blog post, and embedded a video into your blog post. That’s not even counting what you can do on social media.

Repurposing digital content on social media can be tricky. Feel free to use some of my favorite social media automation tools to ensure your post gets maximum exposure.

With one topic you could expose it to people in 5-10 different ways. This allows you to maximize your reach and grow your following.

In the video below I go into a bit more detail about repurposing digital content. If you get some value out of it don’t forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel and share it with a friend!
