3 Real Life Stories About the Power of Referrals

Are you aware how important referrals are to your business. If you know what you’re doing, asking for referrals can massively effect your growth, momentum, and duplication.

There are 3 stories about referrals that I want to share with you that show just how powerful referrals can be.

Story #1

Early on in my business I invited my realtor to take a look at my opportunity. After putting her through the system it turns out it wasn’t for her. “No problem,” I said. “Would you mind sending me referrals by telling your clients about me?”

Long story short, I now have my realtor’s customers call me all the time for the product that I provide. All because I took the time to ask for referrals. Side note: she isn’t the only realtor who has said no to my opportunity who is now sending me referrals.

Maybe a realtor is not the best referral source for you. Find a professional who operates in your niche and invite them to take a look. If it’s not for them, ask for referrals. It’s that simple.

Story #2

Shortly after I got started in my business I asked a buddy of mine from college to take a look at what I was doing. Like a lot of people who I invited to take a look, the business was not a good fit for him. He had just graduated from college and was heading across the state to grad school. He told me to give him a call once he got out of school and found a job.

Two whole years later I followed up with him. I saw on Facebook that he had finished school and had moved to the Dallas area, fairly close to me. He told me he was still not in a place to work a business like mine.

TOP EARNERS TIP: Follow up with people after they make major changes in their lives (have kids, get a new job, move to a new town, get married). It’s all about timing in this industry.

“No problem,” I said. Then I asked him for some referrals. “Now that you mention it,” he said. “I did meet a guy in grad school who loves this type of thing. Here’s his number.” You bet your buns the next phone call I made was to his friend from grad school.

Story #3

Several years ago I made an invite to a friend of mine that I grew up with. She had just gotten married and did not feel that my business was a good fit for her.

Referrals are powerful things in the Network Marketing industry. They allow you to dive into someone else’s warm market and expand your written list. The next time someone tells you that your opportunity is not for them, please, do yourself a favor and ask for referrals.
