Handling Objections: How Much Money Have You Made?

As you build your home-based business you are inevitably going to run into some objections. Rarely does someone join you without asking any questions or having any reservations. That being said, you need to know how to handle it when those concerns are being raised.

A common question that comes up is when your prospect wants to know how much money you have made with your opportunity. It’s a legitimate question but I still think it’s rude. Unfortunately, just because I think its rude does not mean someone won’t ask it.

Your prospect is just trying to see if you’re making the kind of income that they would deem worth their time and effort.

So how should you handle that question when it comes up?

First of all, I wouldn’t suggest giving an exact number value. If you’re going to anyways, just make sure you don’t make outlandish income statements. If you’re going to give a number value, then give an accurate one. This industry is just fine how it is, there’s no need to hype it up. Especially since exaggerated income statements are against the DSA code of ethics.

My favorite response to this question is something to this effect:

“That’s a good question and its kind of hard to answer. You see in my business I create residual income. That means I get paid over and over again for efforts that I made one time. I can’t really tell you how much I’ve made because I am still getting paid on the action that I took in my first month. I don’t have a final number yet because next month I’m going to get paid again on my initial efforts.”

The goal with your response is to deflect their mindset and questioning from a number value to the power of residual income.

Amateurs give number values. The problem with that is if you don’t make enough, it seems like your opportunity doesn’t work. If you make a lot, you just look conceited.

If they persist and demand a dollar amount, then maybe that’s not someone you want to be doing business with in the first place.

In the video below I go into a bit more detail about how you should respond when someone asks you how much money you make in your home-based business. If you get some value out of it don’t forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel and share it with a friend!
